Asian Rice Bucket

June 14, 2013 DIY, Interiors

On average you can find these for $75 in good condition. So don’t go spending more than that. Now, there are some Asian Rice Buckets worth a little more because it may have a signature of the maker/manufacturer or owner. See picture below.

But, even these go for $150-175 max. The reason for this is because they were massed produced. Example, I found mine in an antique shop in Northern Michigan. Paid $70 for it 12 years ago. Still worth $70. Even though many of them were made in the late 1800’s to early1900’s they do not fetch hundreds so be careful when purchasing.

These rice baskets will last forever. All wood and steel man-made and can carry pounds and pounds of rice. So they are great for decorating a party table with bottles or plants.

Well, as you know I can’t leave it as is. Finally after a decade I decided to go ahead and paint it. AND I LOVE IT even more now. Again, using paint sample pints that I already had and a lot of patience so I wouldn’t paint over the steel nails. I began the painting process.  Check it out.
