Outdoor Living // Patio Furniture Updates

June 30, 2015 Design Ideas, Entertaining, My Home, Outdoor Living

Last summer we took the leap and removed our backyard play set and replaced an Outdoor Living space with some pavers and a fire pit. Read all about that 3 part process under projects.

BEFORE: Summer 2014

Outdoor Living

It was an easy process, but, after living with it for the summer I knew what was missing.
1. More furnishings 🙂
2. The fire pit was too low
3. Side walkway needed matching limestone and sod NOT pebbles (you can see a glimpse of it behind the BBQ)
So, I needed to tackle all 3 issues starting with the furniture plan, you know, cause they take forever to delivery.
I had already tackled items #2 and #3. Blog post about that was last week. It was easy to run to Lurveys and buy sod, stones etc. The hard part as always is the furnishings.
So item #3 on the To-Do List
After hours of searching I knew I had an inspiration pic
I had already purchased the furniture for the lounge area by the fire pit so I knew I didn’t want to introduce many more textures and fabrics.
Our fire pit furniture is from the Heatherstone Collection. I love it, they are sturdy and easy to maintain.
One issue, from last summer, was that I only purchased one love seat and two side club chairs. You can see in the original picture above. Well, everyone always wanted to sit in this area and I needed just a little more seating. SO! after selling a few things on a virtual garage sale site I was able to purchase another love seat and all new royal blue cushions. NOW, we can comfortably seat over 8 around the fire pit plus additional table seating in the opposite corner. More about that now…
I had also realized that the little seating nook I created in the upper left corner was not getting used. I decided to move our four chair patio table set to this corner. PERFECT fit.
NOW I needed a new dining table and chairs for our outdoor dining area!! We host many dinners and, a table for four was never enough. I needed something that would seat 8+, was sturdy, easy to maintain and already went with the existing feel.
I found this Hamptom Bay table online, ordered it, and LOVE IT!!! I use it almost daily.
So, now the chairs. I liked the chairs in my inspirational picture that had the same weave design of my fire pit furniture, but the color was off. I rather have something in the same color tone, comfortable, and with a little more curve then the straight edge of my club chairs. COMFORT was a must. We have a lot of “older” aunts/uncles, grandmas/grandpa’s and even 1 great grandma near by, so no joke, when purchasing this years patio dining chairs I thought of Great Grandma, I want her to sit comfortably for hours. So I found these Holden Dining Chairs.
Well, all new furnishings with royal blue cushions and matching patio umbrellas and we haven’t missed a beat enjoying it for Summer 2015!!
