Faux Bamboo Dining Room Chairs

October 8, 2015 Interiors

This dining room has always been one I adored, probably because of the Faux Bamboo Dining Room Chairs
Katie Rosenfeld Design

NOT for the wallpaper, drapery, chandelier, or colors (don’t get me wrong it’s classic), but not my style. The part I love is the dark wood table and server with faux white bamboo dining chairs.
This one is more my style…

Now, I can easily go online to Ballard Designs and order 8 – 10 of these chairs, but it would cost me almost $2,000.  Which is not what I want to spend, and more importantly, I have seen these chairs in person and they are not authentic or solid wood. I wanted true authentic wood chairs with the bamboo Chippendale design.
So I turned to Ebay, craigslist, Chairish and checked them daily.
Well, after only 2 days I found this.
YUP, original Shelby Williams wood chairs, and you read that right $25 each. I called and they said if I came within 24 hours I could get them for $20 each. I, of course, went running halfway to the Southern Illinois auction house

And here they were. My original Faux Bamboo Chairs

I got to sit in over 20 of them, picking out 8 chairs that had not damage and were 100% sturdy.  Of course I placed my babies gently into the van.
Here was my living room chairs before in case you were curious.

And I was able to sell all 6 of these chairs on a Virtual Garage Sale Site so I could place my new chairs. Here they are in their new home but just a sneak peak since they are not refinished yet. All 8 chairs will get lacquered up and reupholstered.
Can’t wait to start that process asap!
