Built-in Eating Nook

November 9, 2015 DIY, Interiors, My Home

So I recently wrote about my ever changing fabric options for our built-in eating nook. You can read about that whole process here and here and here.

Yea, I know. My breakfast nook has had many changing lives (posts), but I finally think I found one that is worth the wait and will stand the test of time.

See! Looks like a plain cream vinyl right? Well, take a closer look.

It has a faux crocodile texture. I searched and searched for laminated or oilcloth fabrics.  I liked many of the new designs but something was always missing. That is when I thought, hmmmm, what about fashion fabric for bags and totes.

So I found some faux crocodile fabric that came in some great colors. I opted for cream because my kitchen is already so dark BUT I loved the grey version of this fabric too.

Well, that’s it. Haven’t 3 attempts at finding the “perfect” oilcloth fabric I settled for some fashion textiles that made it all work.
