Modern American Farmhouse

August 21, 2015 Client Projects, Interiors

Have a new client that is in the midst of building a home in the Modern American Farmhouse style. LOVE IT!!!! My dream home!! So when they asked me to help them with the interiors I was floored. I began researching and pulling my ideas together, but I also thought, lets strap on our boots and head over to our local farm.
Yes yes, I know, it’s not the exact style they are going for, but there was nothing like walking the farm and taking in the feel, smells, scenery, to get me motivated on how to reinvent an “American” style that has been around for so long.
It was also a great opportunity to mix a little family time #workandplay
Keep reading to find out what I really learned about this interior style.
Gotta love!

Her and the Barn yard too of course.
So the exterior of the home is white, but why not play around with the garage. Hmmmm, maybe I can convince them to do red with a white wood trim garage….LOVING IT!
AH, with 2 large Gooseneck Barn Light Fixtures.

NOW that is a Barn Style Sliding door. Wait, isn’t it just called Barn Sliding Door without “style,” since it’s a real one.
Check out the size of it.
Totally notice the windmill to the back. A little metal will be incorporated without a doubt.

Now, taking my kids with me on this “work” excursion made me realize something. How kids / families come alive at the farm. The next few pictures show how my little rascals became one with the environment they are in.
The Modern American Farmhouse is not only a style but a way of life, bringing the outdoors in and creating a world for your family to explore, live, laugh, run, and play. Open spaces, mixing woods with metals, light, airy, pops of natural green mixed in with heavy whites, the dirt roads and simply, happy!
