Desk Ideas For Kids Rooms

January 3, 2017 Design Ideas, Interiors, My Home

It’s happening, my babies are becoming young men and they need a kids desk space. They are growing fast that they like actually smell when they wake up in the morning. So they shower now before school. Then, at the end of the day after school and sports, they smell again. Two showers a day! As a mom it happens, that moment you realize they are not babies anymore, and for me, it was their smell. That baby smell long gone. Reality set in and I needed to make their spaces feel more grown-up. Bye bye bunk beds and hello desks and study spaces.
A few weeks ago we began the process by donating some of their furnishings and picking up some new pieces. You can read about the design process and mood board here. The trick was that these two young men share a room. SO, I needed two desk, two beds, two chairs, two of everything. After some searching, I found the most perfect size Cost Plus World Market secretary desk that was very manly. It has a rustic and boyish that I loved, but, the size was what sold me. It is so darn perfect that I was able to fit TWO! The desk top pulls out for more writing space and you can completely close the top to use as an occasional table if needed.
Now, of course they also needed two chairs. I found these eames inspired desk chairs with all the right finishes. The legs of the chair tie in the boys pine beds  and with their black desk legs it works flawlessly. When I finished setting up the desk space area they were crazy excited that they actually looked for some homework to do. We are waiting on the lighting and finishing touches so stay tune for the final reveal. Small space desk ideas for kids room interior styling tips for kids spaces www.homewithkeki.com

This is too funny, I just recently bought that exact same desk for myself! It's small and functional and I love that you can close it up when you aren't using it. I love that you're using it as a kids desk!

I absolutely love these desks! I really could have used these when my four kids where young, they shared rooms that were tight spaces and these would have been wonderful. The color of the wood is gorgeous too!

Super cute spaces. I believe that a dedicated space is important for doing schoolwork. I know that I have preached this a lot over my years as a principal!

That desk is a brilliant size. I remember the day my parents got me my own desk and I felt so grown up. I love the chair also, must look into updating my desk chair!

Those are some cool desks. I have to admit that I am a little jealous of them. I never had anything like that for my daughter or myself growing up.

My little ones are still too young to need a desk but my husband and I desperately need to set up a home office space and I think I can utilize some of your tips for us! Thanks for sharing – I love that chair!

I love those chairs and desks! My daughter doesn't need one in her room. We homeschool and have a room for schooling. However, I'm going to look into this style as opposed to the one she is using now.

Isn't that a lovely desk idea! I like seeing organized ones in my sons' rooms! Which is why I choose a desk that has a lot of storage space for them as well as enough space for their laptops and things.
