Best Paint Colors For Home Staging in 2021
There will always be color trends when it comes to staging homes. It is critical to stay on top of those trends and do some research on what buyers in your area are wanting in their dream home purchase. With paint being the #1 R.O.I when it comes to a sellers investment in home staging I always make sure that paint is the first step in getting a property ready to market.
A decade ago when it came to staging properties the gray trend was everywhere. I even wrote a couple blog posts about the fifty shades of gray to use when home staging. In fact, there was a transition from GREIGE to GRAY. As a result, I actually covered this topic four years in a row:
- 2013: Greige Paint Colors
- 2013: More Greige Paint Options
- 2014: Using Gray in Home Staging
- 2015: Transitioning from Greige to Gray Paint Colors
- 2015: Gray Paint For Exterior Homes (Yes, when necessary staging clients paint exteriors-this is a highly pinned post)
- 2015: The Best in Gray Paint Colors (HUGE post, everyone was painting their home gray, over 2K pins)
- 2016: Best Gray Paint Colors for Home Staging
So it seems, between 2016 to 2020 is when we begin transitioning again to new color trends and I am sure you have guessed what that trend is, right?
Whites!
Now before you think that is dull and boring we are hit with 50 Shades of White!! From yellow/cream undertones to cooler gray or blue undertones. IF the property has more woods I would stick with those warmer whites but for more transitional homes don’t be afraid to use those gorgeous cooler whites.
Okay, my best white paint colors when it comes to staging homes in 2020 are:
- Decorators White
- I have used this on walls, even my living room, but I love it for wood paneling.
- Simply White
- A great soft white with a light cream undertone. I would use a paper white trim color so you can see the difference
- Chantilly Lace
- A great white for either a traditional or modern home.
- White Dove
- Great for warmer tone homes
- Cloud White
- All around a safe white paint

Last year I finally chose a white….it’s SW Extra White with 3 extra pumps (ozs?) of white pigment per gallon. I am beyond pleased with the result on the walls and board and batten. It has no perceivable undertones. Now to get rid of the rest of my 14 year old builder beige!

We went with Alabaster White throughout the house. I love it. We live in the woods, and I didn’t consider that.🤔
